A traditional benefits broker is often considered an extension of an insurance carrier’s sales force, focusing on selling products. The services they provide are usually centered on the renewal or new sale of a product and generally end when the renewal or sale is completed. Brokers are more focused on the sale of the product and less focused on how that product may impact the group and its employees.
